Wisconsin is the largest mink producer in the country.
After COVID-19 outbreaks among animals in Europe, agriculture officials are warning farmers about the risk of infection. So far there haven’t been any reported outbreaks in the state, but the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture has new guidance for mink farmers and veterinarians working on ranches.
Wisconsin has 67-mink farms, estimating nearly 227-million-dollars in exports per year.
