HIGH SPEED CHASE TOPS 100 MPH

A stolen vehicle chase hit speeds over 100 miles per hour. It was just after 1:30 on Saturday morning Troopers from the Wisconsin State Patrol were involved with a high-speed pursuit involving a stolen vehicle.

Upon attempting to stop a vehicle for speeding on I-94 at Mile Post 122 westbound in Jackson County near Black River Falls, a vehicle increased its speed to approximately 103 mph. Troopers were able to obtain the vehicle’s license plate and learned the vehicle was stolen.

The vehicle continued to travel eastbound on HWY 54 until troopers successfully implemented a pursuit intervention technique. The vehicle became disabled and crashed in the ditch crossing the railroad tracks. The suspect driver, 44 year old James Allen Connor from Bemidji MN, fled from the vehicle and attempted to swim across a pond.

Connor was subsequently arrested by troopers and transported to Jackson County Jail. Mr. Conner will be charged with fleeing and eluding law enforcement, operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and multiple felony warrants.
