Here in our area, Eau Claire has added 8 confirmed cases of coronavirus, bringing the count locally in Eau Claire county to 103 positive cases. Overall in Wisconsin, the positive coronavirus testing rate is down to nearly four-percent. T
he health department says the state completed nearly 52-thousand tests last week, the most of any one-week period. Nearly 60-percent of infected people are recovered.
Meanwhile, health officials in Fond du Lac County believe recent coronavirus cases are connected to gatherings in the area.
The holiday weekend saw 25 new positive COVID-19 cases in Fond du Lac County and health officer Kim Mueller says birthday parties and funerals appear to be sources of some recent cases. Mueller says they’re actively investigating through contact tracing, the sources of the new cases. Officials say some of the patients thought their symptoms were allergies and not COVID-19.
