SPECIAL ELECTION SET, EVERS PUSHES CHANGE IN LAW

Wisconsin’s governor wants lawmakers in Madison to fix a gap in the state’s election law.

Governor Tony Evers on Friday reset the special election for Wisconsin’s northwoods. Voters will first go to the polls in February, then again in May. But the governor said he wouldn’t have had to change the dates if not for a gap between how Wisconsin law and federal election law read.

Evers wants lawmakers to pass a new law in the spring that puts the state on the same page as the federal election schedule.
