A crash in Barron County leaves two dead.
It happened on Saturday morning. It was just after 6:30 when the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a single vehicle crash. When crews arrived, it was determined the two were deceased. The initial crash investigation indicates the 2001 Ford Escape was traveling southbound on CTH O when the vehicle traveled into the oncoming lane and into the east ditch. The vehicle vaulted on a driveway embankment and struck several pine trees.
The two occupants were ejected. The physical evidence and injuries suggested that 50-year-old Michelle Rae Thompson was driving and 45-year-old Gayland Olson was her passenger in the fatal crash.
