WI POLITICAL CLIFF NOTES: ACT 10 AGAIN, EVERS CASTS VOTE FOR AUTO-REGISTRATION

Republican lawmakers in Madison say they’re stepping into another legal battle over Act 10 because they’re not sure anyone else will.

Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald yesterday said they are not going sit by and watch another effort to rollback the law that changed how public sector unions in the state can work with local governments and local schools.  Fitzgerald said he’s not sure if Governor Tony Evers or Attorney General Josh Kaul will defend Act 10, so he said he will.

When it comes to going into the voting booth, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers is still pushing ahead with a plan to automatically register people to vote when they get a driver’s license or state ID, despite a promise from Republican lawmakers to kill the idea.  The governor yesterday said he simply wants to make it easier for people in the state to vote.  The Republicans who control the legislature say it’s already plenty easy to vote in Wisconsin.
