BEER, CHEESE, AND DAIRY BREEZE!

Wisconsin tourism is on the rise.

Visitor spending grew by nearly five-percent to over 213-billion-dollars, which generated nearly 22-billion-dollars in total business sales.  Nearly 200-thousand jobs were supported directly or indirectly by tourism last year.  About 112 million people visited the state in 2018.

Here locally however, it was a little dip:

Tourism spending in Eau Claire County is down slightly.  According to the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, visitors spent just over 255-million-dollars in 2018, down point-four-percent from 2017.  Spending in Chippewa County went up in 2018.  Nearly 100-million-dollars was spent last year, up one-point-three percent from 2017.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers says Eau Claire is doing all it can to bring people to town.  The governor was in Eau Claire yesterday as part of his statewide tourism tour.  The governor says Eau Claire’s effort to keep UW Eau Claire grads in town after graduation should be applauded.
