There’s another appeal before the court in the Steven Avery case.
Lawyers for Avery filed motions yesterday requesting a new trial and a new judge. Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey are serving life terms for the 2005 murder of photographer Teresa Halbach. The defense wants a new trial based on some evidence questions. They want a new judge because current judge Angela Sutkiewicz heard a prior civil case against Avery brought by the Halbach family.
