A search for a missing man is over after his body was found in the Mississippi River.
The Grant County Sheriff’s office says 51-year old Alan Hartig’s pontoon boat floated away Thursday in Wisconsin waters of the river near Finley’s Landing on the Iowa side. He swam out to get the boat back but he disappeared underwater in the process. The Grant County Sheriff’s office says yesterday afternoon, Hartig’s body was recovered after a University of Dubuque helicopter pilot spotted Hartig’s body floating two miles down river from where he disappeared.
